  • good vw dealers in sydney

    hey hey

one of my friends wants to buy a jetta diesel and judging by the immense amount of "chatswood classic cars is the ass hole of volkswagen australia" sorta feedback, ( and seeing as they live in chatswood ), i was wondering if any of you mk5ers could give me the low down on any good experiences you had with dealers?

    thanks.

also, what kinda price range would be good on jetta 2.0 tdi manual? =]

Thats odd I have bought all my VW cars from Chatswood classic cars. I found the Hornsby and Parramatta dealers were not as friendly. It was like they thought I was not going to buy the cars or something.

Most of the Chatswood staff know me by name now when I visit

        Penrith

I got mine from Penrith...... worth the drive for a little bit of a country atmosphere... paid 32k plus on roads for my c/line 1.9ldsg no extras.Great trade in price. I cant complain reaaly. What did annoy me thou was the huge massive dealer site & setup. No doubt the buyer has to pay for it in the end. In my dads day he bought a Peugeot 203. through the local servo & it was delivered to our home still in its wooden shipping container... It was great fun undoing & unwrapping the box. Rego & on roads all paid. We followed the Ikea like instructions.. like checking all the oils putting the wiper arms on/hubcaps on etc Bazza

I can recommend the guys @ Barloworld in Botany. They are fantastic. I have bought two cars from them, and they really look after their customers, both at point of sale, and servicing.

Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

hmm... will VW start rolling out the "no OTR cost/free stamp duty" business at the end of the financial year?

I got my Mk5 tdi from Penrith b4 they moved into the new mega dealership & had a really great buying experience with at the time the best deal i could get in Sydney ( I faxed & emailed every dealer in Sydney for quotes ). When we picked the car up it was a real event in the show room & we were treated like the only people they were concerned with. We had a long look at the car to make sure that it was exactly what we ordered, shown how everything worked, set up all the auto features, set the door looks the way we wanted them etc & went for a drive with the sales man to make sure we were happy & then was taken to meet the service manager and shown through the workshop!

But I just recently put my dad into a comfortline tdi with them & I was very disappointed with the whole experience. Also their customer service & quality control of late has gone down hill with regards service. For example, I recently had a windscreen replaced under insurance which service said they would do on account with my insurance company, when I went to pick the car up I had to pay as their accounts department said they were in dispute with the insurer & refused to deal with them. When I jumped in the car it was full of broken glass, I was not a happy camper! I think that they have just grown to big to care as an organisation.

                just my opinion.

tried chatswood recently and was full intending to place an order. however I was so dissappointed with the service I decided to look elsewhere. Gave Penrith a call and was extremely impressed, their service was great and the price was even better. Penrith's std listed price for an r36 was cheaper than the best deal Chatswood would do. So placed the order and deposit and thought that would be the last I would hear from them till the car arrived.

Not the case, they call me to supply updates as to whats happening with the car and estimated delivery date.

Now just hope the service department is as good, from what i hear it's hard to find anyone decent in Sydney.

As someone who's considering buying an R32 shortly, that concerns me...

Had a reasonable experience with Barloworld at Mascot for our 2.0 TDI.

Well, having just visited Denlo at Parramatta, I'm not terribly impressed.

I realise that car salespeople probably have a reputation for being overly pushy, and maybe some salespeople are doing their best to counter this reputation by being less aggressive, but the guy I spoke to didn't understand my questions (such as "What are the implications of choosing the satnav package - do any other components in the car such as the stereo change?", nor did he seem keen to talk the car up or organise a test drive (odd when I'm considering putting down a deposit for a car worth $70k with onroads and am willing to sit on the end of a 3-4 month wait for it to arrive...). He didn't seem remotely interested either that I'm considering a WRX STi as an alternative (I would have at least expected him to try tell me about where the R32 beats it...).

I was hoping to avoid driving all over Sydney to try find a dealer who actually wanted to sell me a car, but it seems I may have to do so...
                            Nothing to see here...

I bought my vw from hornsby, I would buy from them again if I was to get another golf.
Yeah I would avoid chatswood classic cars, didn't have a good experience at all.
