Must be all that TDI torque?

I think it is the extra weight on the wheels from the diesel donk???

I second that. I've had two sets on a Liberty and Honda Euro - love 'em.

Try Jax/Quick fit tyre dealers. I know the one in penrith sells them.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

my bro's R32 have bridgestone re050s, he corners hard now and then...and they lasted him 25000kms. vs his old mitsi evo 9 with adrenalins which lasted 8000kms.

my old mk4 2L had contisport 2s and lasted me about 45000kms.

the current mk5 gti wears falken 452s which i don't have any problems with at all. great in the wet, but lacks a tiny bit of traction in the dry...but still does an awesome job.

double check your prices. i got 18in for $240 each. if you are getting prices from a higher demographic suburb...tyre shops tend to massively inflate prices....just cause most people can afford it. i was quoted $340 each from 2x stores which i drive past on the way to work...and they weren't willing to negotiate at all. i walked into another shop about 20kms out of the city, and quoted me $240 straight up.

My lease company insists that I replace like with like tyres when the time comes. My Jetta TDI came with Continental SportContact2's, which from what I'm now reading on here, don't seem to last a long time, and probably cost a b0mb as well?

Do you reckon I could talk them into something else? Has anyone had the same problem?

Like with like doesn't mean the exact.

Just make sure the tyre has the same ratings. I can't see how they can object to that.

just refer yr lease company to the ACCC, forcing you to buy identical is anti-competitive behaviour and is highly illegal.

Ozgriff is right, as long as they are the same specification, then brand shouldnt matter

I agreed with that. My euro has been used it for 3 years, love it.... just don't bother to try others, should be able to get around $265 mark

Well the question has been answered for me...just picked the car up with a brand new set of Falken FK452 Licorice Hoops @$225 ea (bit of a saving over the $311 quoted elsewhere ) Seem OK so far, but then I've only driven 1.5Km back to work.

btw the Marangoni Tyre number was not connected.

That's a sharp price, I had Falkens on my Commodore and they were great, I'm going to have to look into these options if I don't end up changing rims...

They'll get better too - for the first few kms, there's a residue from the manufacturing process that makes them slippery (so they slide out of the moulds).
                              Nothing to see here...

Hey is it rude to ask where you are located and where you bought the tyres?

Btw I checked out Falken's website and they look like sweet tyres, I did have a great experience with Falkens on my Commodore.
