according to manual it's more serious if it stays on :S

Maybe thats the case with the FSI, I could have sworn for my engine (1.8T - older engine) that the light flashing indicates a more serious problem.

Regardless, if you notice your engine is running sick then that is serious regardless of flashing lights or not .
