  • Ouch!

So, whilst reverse parking in Alexandria, we managed to back over a curb 'protecting' a tree and punch-in/scrape the panel below the doors on the left hand side of our silver Golf. Can anyone give me an idea of what form repairs will take? Any recommendations for repair shops happily accepted also - I'm not sure that going through the dealer would be cost-effective.

Ouch sorry to hear about that motk, depending on the depth of the scratch it can possibly be bufed out however if not the door might need to be repainted.

May I suggest going to Detroit Customs Bodywork shop in Arncliffe, great service and excellent finishes!

They will be redoing my mk3 complete in the next coming weeks, but have seen a few other jobs including a mk4 GTI and a mk4r32 that they are respraying aswell, looking excellent so far.

    Hope that helps

Sadly, it's more than a scratch - it's a significant dent, about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide tapering north-south, on the panel below the doors. Definitely looks like some panel work will be needed! I'm wondering if this will require cutting and welding - and also if it will affect the galvanised body warranty.

I'm sure that the panel shop will be able to sought that out for you provided that you tell them.

what they dont know cant hurt them. if they can spot that there was a repair then the repair was dodgey. it wont affect the warranty. i promise you that the place i mentioned will put your car good as new at a good price. its the type of place where you can eat off the floor its so clean. detroit apparently did a good job on gpk's car as well. jack hillermann might be more convenient if you're north shore cuz they're in artarmon.

It's a very awkward place to repair I guess, below the doors. Stupid traffic calming, gaaah.
