So, whilst reverse parking in Alexandria, we managed to back over a curb 'protecting' a tree and punch-in/scrape the panel below the doors on the left hand side of our silver Golf. Can anyone give me an idea of what form repairs will take? Any recommendations for repair shops happily accepted also - I'm not sure that going through the dealer would be cost-effective.

Ouch sorry to hear about that motk, depending on the depth of the scratch it can possibly be bufed out however if not the door might need to be repainted.
May I suggest going to Detroit Customs Bodywork shop in Arncliffe, great service and excellent finishes!
They will be redoing my mk3 complete in the next coming weeks, but have seen a few other jobs including a mk4 GTI and a mk4r32 that they are respraying aswell, looking excellent so far.

Sadly, it's more than a scratch - it's a significant dent, about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide tapering north-south, on the panel below the doors. Definitely looks like some panel work will be needed! I'm wondering if this will require cutting and welding - and also if it will affect the galvanised body warranty.Last edited by motk; 03-04-2008, 09:57 AM.
