the car hasn't had a DSG service yet (let sleeping dogs lye theory)
Im going to give him a ring to discuss tomorrow.
As others have said, DSG service should be performed at 60,000km (45,000km IMO).

You are using a VW Independant specialist? He doesn't sound very good...

I didn't even know there were any near Hammondville (that's near the M5 tolls isn't it?)

When I was on the tools our workshop specialised in dealing with female customers without makng them feel like idiots (generally the blokes were even more ignorant but wouldn't admit it).

Sometimes we had to come up with some pretty odd (and fairly innaccurate) analogies to make our customers comfortable that they had some understanding of what was wrong with their car. We weren't allowed to say "You're car is stuffed & it has to be fixed. Just deal with it"

yes thats correct - not near Hammondville.
the reason I wasn't too concerned letting the DSG go without a service is that it wasn't shown in the log book.
maybe all DSG controversy happened post logbook. Are they in the logbooks for the newer cars (post 2009) ?

The log-book isn't market-specific, so a lot of things are not printed.

The dealer has the correct service schedule.

DSGs needed to be serviced at 60K since day one.

hmmm - that doesn't sound market specific to John Citizen.

Interestingly I just bought bought a new Skoda Octavia with same gearboox including 6 years fixed price servicing.
I will look with interest at the 60K service in the logbook when I pick up. As i recall one of the fixed price sercives was much more expensive so there may more transparency now.

You'll again find that the book is generic, and that all the service pages are the same.

You'll probably find it's up the front of the book and just a 1-liner. Sometimes interpreting the book is a bit difficult and they aren't as logical as (for instance) a Toyota Service Book.

Your specialist independent should know this.
