Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Possible fuel cut issue...?

    Hi Guys,

    I was coming out of a side street onto a main road this morning, it was super busy so the procession of cars was significant. I picked a gap and gave the Golf a boot. Away she went...and then...nothing...half a second later (which felt like forever) she spung to life again and took off.

    I have noticed this phenomenon before but never this bad. The DSG gearbox could have been the issue, having a long think about what gear to give me. But, I'm thinking fuel cut.

    Is this a common issue with tuned engines?

    Not common mate, I'd be scanning it before jumping to conclusions. I'd check it for you but I am away to Sydney tomorrow. Happy to check it next week though.

      Or coil packs (causing misfire under load).

        Hmmm...I might take you up on that Gav.
        I've been looking for an opportunity to get R8 coils so this might be the opportunity.
