Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi guys,
    Need help with my GT TDi golf 2007 2L/

    Read heaps good things on here in the past now I hope one of fellow members can help me.

    Brief history.
    Had a little front end accident, just a cosmetic panel damage and a broken fan AC condenser.
    Started the car briefly for 10 sec and past that just won't turn. Fuel pump is working and all lines are feeding correctly.
    But the engine just won't turn. Battery is ok. Have spare. All instruments on dash are ok and working.

    I have identified Speed sensor may not be the issue but the dreaded code P1517, Short with Ground.

    My scanner tells me "05399 Power Supply Relay for ECU (J271 or J363) Electrical Malfunction P1517Short With Ground Intermittent!"

    "Power supply Relay for ECU (J271 or J363) electrical Malfunction message.

    Tested both (1ko 951 253a) 2x modules on my other car and they seem to work fine.

    Seems that ESC calls it Load Reduction Relay. Audi calls it Voltage Supply Relay and scan in VCDS calls it ECU Power Relay.
    Apart from this scenario what else would you recommend to look at to fix the problem.

    I did start the car for 10 sec and noticed that I have extra diesel in my Oil.

    I emptied 3L and I'm still noticing more. Not sure if it could be the fuel Tandem Pump?



    The car now just cranks and cuts off and that is after sparying diesel start spray.


    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Ok, I've just tested (didn't measure resistance) injector one by one. And noticed no difference in start.
    Unless all the injectors are stuffed I doubt its the injectors, unless they are all open, something else must be the cause.
    Don't know what else I can try

      Looks as though your car is doing what it should.

      If you're getting that much diesel in the oil something's seriously wrong — overfilling to that extent could wreck your engine if it started.

      Hopefully the oil level sensor is preventing it from starting.

      Get it professionally checked, and DON"T START IT!
