  • Anyone got HID kit from bold-sport?

    Hi guys,

I was looking to upgrade my lights so i came across the HID kit at bold-sport, has anyone used this kit before? Any feedback on it? If not is there any recommendations for a HID kit? Are they hard to install?

Unless you have HID headlight housings, do not put HIDs in.

Also from memory it needs a self leveling kit and washers to be legal for use in Australia.

...and a bunch of VCDS coding to make the car know they are there or they won't fire up.

I ended up walking away from HIDs and just bought good quality 4200k halogens instead (Philips X-treme Vision). They turned up this morning and so I will get them fitted on the weekend.

Ok so since I have the normal headlights, I should probably stay away from them.

Mattlock are you able to post some photos of before and after, once you get them fitted. Would 4200k be much different than the normal bulb.

Most certainly. If I can get them in tonight, I will.

I believe that the original bulbs are around 3500k so they will be bluer than those. However, my understanding is that halogens are not ADR compliant if they are higher than 4200k, so I stuck at those to avoid any risk of a defect notice from the cops (especially with the anti-hooning laws here).

HID globes in conventional housings is a sure-fire way to get stopped and receive a ticket.

Thanks mate, I don't think the cops are that strict on lights here in the ACT, but I guess I don't want to drive a car with really bright lights that blinds people. I know how much it annoys me when I see a car like that.

Are you thinking of getting the fog lights changed and LED parkers too?

I fitted some Osram Rallye 65 watt bulbs in my halogen housings and the high beams and they have performed flawlessly.
Much whiter light and much better throw.
You can pick them up on ebay cheap.

I have run into a few Osram bulbs on ebay, I was gonna ask if there is much difference between them and the Philips ones?

Can't say as I haven't tried the Phillips but I have run the Osrams for just over 3 years and they haven't had a single problem.

+1 for the 65W Osrams. Very good bulbs.

No worries, I think I will give Osrams a go.

Are Osram Night Breaker Unlimited a good choice?

Don't pay $60 a bulb. eBay can be had for $15 a bulb and are genuine, just hunt a bit.
