  • chrome switch controls from bold-sport

    hi,

anyone installed these Bold-Sport.com :: CC Chrome Switch Full Set for 4 doors ?

How hard/easy was it? I imagine you need to remove the door panels at least?

    Thanks

I believe you need to remove the door trims in order to access the window buttons etc. Might take a few hours to do all doors.

If you go ahead with it - make sure you buy some of the door clips that Bold Sport also sell. They are about $1 each. You will break some for sure when removing your door trims.

I was looking at these last night. I noticed that they have a full set under their Mk5 Golf section, rather than the CC labelled ones. I deduced that the time would be the killer and if you're going to take the doors apart to do it, you may as well fit the illuminated door warning lights at the same time!

I've done both the switches and door warning lights. Recommend both

Yes and while you have the doors apart you may as well do both at the same time. Plus save on shipping and get all the parts together.

The other thing they sell apart from the clips which is really useful is cloth tape. Comes in handy if you want to cover wires to stop any vibration.

Did you have to do any Vag-COM coding to make the door warning lights work?

The chrome switches are direct swap over but the door warning lights need to get one bit selected using VCDS. It's a 2 minute job if you have the cable.

Tigger73, how long did take you to do it? Which bit took the most time? Taken the panels off?

It's not that hard a job.

Youtube is your friend when doing DIY

The back doors are a bit simpler as they don't have as many screws.

As Lucas_R said make sure you add a couple of clips into your shopping cart at bold-sport as more than likely you'll bust a couple in the process. Not a biggie as I think they're around 99c each (or less if you buy more).

Put them in. It really doesn't cost much. It makes the car look much more classy and I can't imagine why VWA decided to cheap out and put in "reflectors" in the doors instead. Probably saved all of $10 per vehicle.

There are quite a few people in Brisbane who have a VCDS cable that would be more than happy to do the coding for a cold beverage or 2.

There's a list in this thread: VAG-COM scanning, who can help

Or you could just go along to the next meet/drive and hopefully someone will have a cable with them.
