Left parking light on?

Does anyone know why they have this feature?

Or is that a dum question.

I cant see it being a "warning device"!!

I'm 99% sure in some parts of europe you HAVE to leave your parkers on when parked on the side of the road.. you'll find most if not all european cars have this feature

Think you will find it is law in EC countries that park lights must be on when parked on the street at night. When I lived in the in the UK (eons ago!) the law was that a parking light must be displayed on the side of the vehicle nearest the passing traffic. It was also legal to park facing either way so it makes sense to have it set up for one side or the other to be illuminated.

All I can see it being is a warning device.

Take note that conditions can be quite foggy or generally low visibility or even in the snow fields.
