Sounds great Les. Mate, even in a GT TDI you have to TRY to speed away from lights, but I hate to tell you that I've heard the engine difference is pretty small grunt wise, so it'll still go nicely

      Cogdog,
The salesman said that .... The 08 Pacific has a lot of the GT goodies for free..
Dual climate control .. stability control and the same output from the motor as the GT. I hope that he is correct

103kw vs 125kw and 320nm vs 350 in the GT. The grunt is pretty close, which is why I'm told the "normal" 2.0 TDI feels similar. The GT runs more boost and higher compression from what I can see.

I've got the typical yank "got diesel?" on it's way, but I'll only put "diesel" on the back. Any cool "rub it in your face" diesel stickers around?
Actually i was a little incorrect in my last post.
          It's "PuredieselPower.com"
I think I'll have to order one and get rid of the .com bit.

theres quite a large difference in the way they feel... i mean they still both feel like freight trains its just the gt is waaaaaaay more punchy. speaking from experience btw, not just speculating from what others say.

                  Good choice Les88.......
You will see the difference in petrol. or should that be diesel consumption....

                    Hooray for us!

By the way Les it was a "healthy" BA GT, and I still don't miss it. ESPECIALLY happy about the freedom I now feel as I am simply driving everywhere, and it's both better on the environmant, and on my wallet. I'm continually stoked about the computer always telling me I have hundreds of km's to go, and I leave that on the display most of the time. Logzy, that alone will blow your mind a lot too. I just feel so "free", it's amazing. Anyone coming from a thirsty car will be wrapped.

Being 2 weeks in now, I'd have to say the traffic light grand prix is no longer my domain in the manual diesel, but I'm still holding back on the full bore axle tramp takeoff. I've lost a few drags now, and after the V8, that's a new feeling.

But in the hills, corners, anything other than flat and straight, I've been carving it up. Can't wait to get my diesel sticker from the USA, so I can really rub it in.

I agree the XR6T is a sleeper for what it is, but the weight of the bigger cars is such a disadvantage, and having come from that, I use it against the bigger cars where it hurts. You'll love it!

I'd have to rate this car as both the most sensible economic with maximum fun decision I've ever made.
It is a good choice to go from a GT to the diesel. The GT is a show pony...I am rapt in my 2.0l TDI as my daily driver but I will never get rid of my F6 Typhoon.

Dude, I find it sad how Ford drivers pick on each other so much. Leave it at fordforums, please don't bring it here. Just accept that I didn't even consider the F6 despite the same pricepoint, for my own reasons. Still wouldn't.

Having a TDi as daily drive sounds great, is it city work with traffic lights.?

I drive from Sydneys western suburbs to the CBD everyday. I wish I got the DSG. I only drive the F6 on the weekends or on track days when I can get time.

Mischa, It would be nice to get a R32 TT if they made one. With the minimal money I have spent modding my F6 I have 335rwks on my street tune. To get that performance out of an R32 will cost triple that. Anyway each to there own. I am happy as I get the best of both worlds.
