Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Actually, the lights came on for me last weekend when going for a blast. Maybe base models miss out on this amazing feature

i think a funny feature is the one where the hazards turn on after a really hard emergency brake..

imagine being at a track day..

my hazards would be on the whole time

have put this in another post also... but reckon the most useless is the change lane function on the indicators... not enough flashes to change lanes in time.

Hi from a newbie! (CW manual GTI due in a couple of months.) After a bit of test driving, the most useless feature seems to be a 300 km/h speedo on a car which does less than 240 - leaving the important part of the speedo too crowded to read easily.

Hell of a car otherwise, though...

This forced me to adapt my driving style. 3 flashes is now enough!

This is a useful one, but imagine having dinner with the guy who thought of it

When you approach your destination and you switch off your engine early and just roll to a stop, your headlights will stay on until the car comes to a complete stop.

If you floor a TDI you get a cloud of smoke behind you (unless of course you have a GT-Sport)

If you floor your GTI you get a cloud of white smoke behind you.

                          Define the term "better burnout"?

The 'W' lights up in mine when you push it - trouble is, during the day it's damn near impossible to tell it's on! Still, you only have to try to accelerate and you pretty quickly realise something serious is wrong

I wonder what they were thinking when they sat down to spec the GT build from the South African factory? OK - now, where are these cars going? Australia, NZ, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cyprus, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan... now, what do all these countries have in common? I know, snow & ice! Let's put the 'W' button in for them! But we'll delete the extending sunvisors instead (what would they want them for?)

Does the GT have the same launch control system as the GTI?
