  • Droopy Front Headrest

    Evening all,

I have an 06 Golf Sportline (I've had it since April '13) and the previous owners managed to break the front passenger seat headrest. Not sure what they were doing to break it... It's droopy and remains it no matter how you move it. My parents Skoda and the drivers seat headrest are firm and are able to be moved forward and backward, and put simply, aren't broken. I was curious and went to a VW dealer purely to see if they could come up with anything, not to get it replaced, and the only solution they had was to replace the whole headrest (at $458!!!!!) as they'd literally never had anything like it. While I didn't care so much when I bought it (I don't sit there, so meh), passengers prefer sitting in the back as it's apparently so annoying, so it became one of my new years resolutions.

My question to everyone is, has anyone ever experienced such a thing and how the hell do I fix it?

    Cheers in advance.

Go see Matt at Camden GTI

also, you could try reparing it. I think theres a zip under the headrest for the unholstery, pull it off and pull off the foam insert and see whats going on.

Keep in mind all you actually need is the steel bracket, you can swap over your old upholstery so its still matches perfectly.

Thanks mate, I appreciate the reply! I ended up taking the outer cloth skin off the headrest and it turns out that there were plastic bits missing/broken inside, and upon pulling the loose bits out the headrest itself sits fine normally. It doesn't tilt forward like the other side (because the support that those plastic parts provided is gone) but it sits normally and looks normal too. Best of all, it's not drawing complaints from passengers, so I'm happy! Thanks for the help again.
