Prick hit the front of my R32 and broke the grill......and drove off

Gday all,

I was in Doncaster last night where someone (with a towbar I'm assuming) hit the front of my R32.

Hit the bottom of my number plate and broke the grill. Pic below.

Where can I get a grill at a decent price? Wrecker? Anyone know of a good VW wrecker or stockist?

Bummer.

Last time I replaced one, it came as a complete assembly with the centre silver section. In case you haven't already priced it up, it's about $1100.

Depending on the excess, I'd go through insurance.

Theres a few R32's being wrecked on ebay. I'd start there first.

Like Lucas said, there are a couple of places in Sydney currently wrecking MKV R32's if you don't mind second hand. A friend of mine recently had his grille cracked by someone backing into him in a car park and no note was left.

If you have the pieces ,or if its just cracked it can be repaired, A friend of mine hit a duck and totally wrecked his grille .but he had a repair kit and glued it back together it comes with black powder which you sprinkle on after you you join the two pieces together ,I was surprised as it was hardly noticeable.
Or you can get it professionally repaired ,as in plastic welded. same as they repair bumper bars

Holy crap, $1100!!!??? I had another good look at it before and can see what you mean by a complete assembly.

Yeah, may need to repair myself if I can't pick up a replacement for cheap. I'll look into the plastic welding too. Ta.

Pic below looking from the rear of the grille. Can this part be popped out and swapped or is in integrated into the overall grille?

Black would be GT, chrome would be Jetta.

As far as I know, they're interchangable.

Have you PM'd Oli on this forum? He often has 'hard to find' bits and pieces laying around. Keep in mind the grille for sale on eBay has a crack in the centre of it just under the VW emblem.

Yeah, looks like a copy but is much cheaper than the original. But chrome will then make it look like a Jetta.

Yeah, I noticed the crack on the bumper. But I've asked the guy to get back to me if the black grille can be removed and swapped. If so, then I can put that back into my overall grille.

The OEMs are pricey aren't they.
