Ok that's good to know. They're able to insure cars that the main stream insurers like keep away from so they can add a premium for that.

actually i had an import MX5 which nobody touched except Shannons and their premium was pretty close to an aussie delivered one too.

so i'm a bit lost as to why i'm paying more for the GTI despite no change to my driving/claim history (except i'm getting older ).

      (i know i shouldn't compare with R32 becos it's a different model)

I can't remember if it was on this forum or not but because there are less R32s on the road there are less R32 crashes so deemed safer. More GTIs more accidents (and the GTI name and turbo). If they compared both models to accidents v number on the road they probably would have similar accident ratios.

I opted for AAMI for a variety of reasons - main one being one of my best mates works in claims management. He said to go with them and he will look after me. Who you know - as they say!

AAMI gave me a fair price too (for the first time in my life they were fair on price!)

Knowing someone on the inside is the way to go. It's not what you know!

aami you cant use your choice of repairer. and my beater says that their farmed work out ends up being bodgy, rushed and mostly use 2nd hand parts.

shannons you can choose your repairer and they frown upon 2nd hand parts.

I found shannons a bit more exxy, but id rather choose my own beater and not get some inferior parts and a rushed job.

I didn't end up getting it today as there was a slight complication with the finance but I went down to check out my baby (to be) anyway. On the way down there, there was an accident on the Gateway motorway between the three cars in front of me. I can soooo close to screwing my trade in.

ABS brakes thank-you. Of course in my eagerness to get down there I was following too closely, and ABS is really no substitute for brains but saved my arse non the less.

That's a bummer mate. Do you think you will be picking her up soon?

Yes it's the one downstairs! I heard back that finance has been sorted and I'm heading down there at 4pm tomorrow arvo to pick her up.

                      Another sleepless night.

And it only had 13.9 ks on the clock. I was so worried that I would get it to find that every man as his dog had taken it for a flogging.

Not that everyone who's has contact with the car so far hasn't done that already.

                          What's your expected delivery date?

they have a regoed R32 as demo as well as a unsold one at the front so i believe your car is safe.

my ordered car won't arrive until mid April, but i am asking the dealer to find a similar spec car that can be deliver fairly soon as i'm trying to beat the interest rise. (that's why i was there yesterday)

                            is your car 08 built?

                            cheers

My car is 08 compliance but I think it was built the 2nd week of December.

Bummer about April and hopefully they can track down a similar spec else where for you. But they are like rocking horse sh*t.

Did you say "unsold" R32 out the front? Not for very long I suspect.

Who are you dealing with down there?

i am dealing with Dimitri. he seems quite good.

while i was there, i hinted that i might have problem with finance if it drags to April. i guess it's also in their interest to find me another car. 5dr+DSG+leather should not be too hard to find and i didn't insist on 08 build or blue graphite but i prefer 08 complied.

either way see how it goes.
