Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

and now I wait for four months.....

Let me think what is easier to wipe baby puke off: leather or velour. Being well practiced in this art, I'll go with the leather any day.

Can't say how you'd go about tracking it, but we were told ours would be available on 23rd April yet we got it on the 9th which was a great surprise.

        Cheers,

I am getting down to the pointy end, and the wait is getting a bit tedious. I go though periods of forgetting I have actually bought a car.

The only bummer is with the latest delivery update, it means the car will be delivered approximately 3 to 5 days after the baby!!!!!

When it is clean it will look good though !
Haha you know after the novelty wears off (2 weeks) it'll end up a a servo auto-wash and the paint will be destroyed.

          Goodluck!

Congratulations...you are going to love your new Jetta.
If you want one immediatly South Yarra VW have a Graphite TFSI on their showroom floor,IT came in on Monday when I was there.
All the dark colours suit the Jetta well,as well as the Silver.

Hearty congratulation on both future events!

Now, as to your statement above - my advice is to get used to it, it only gets worse

The Jetta is a fantastic family car choice - perfect size IMO. And that boot....

I tried really hard to get SWMBO into a Jetta FSI recently, but the dealer couldn't/wouldn't source one for testing. The only Jettas they stock are diesel, so we ended-up with a Honda Euro instead. If VW made a manual Jetta TFSI I'd have ordered without the need for a test drive

The Euro is a nice car, but nowhere near as refined as the VW's.

                  Congrats.

VW should put complementary baby seats in the Jettas. Seems to a common theme as the car of choice for those of us new parents who still want something with a bit of fun I've got a TFSI as well, and a 15mth old son

The boot is freaking awesome; I think it is one of the few vehicles that our pram fits in lengthwise (that is, wheels face the same way as the car does) - leaves heaps of space beside it. Most cars the pram only fits sideways, eating up the whole boot.

One tip - don't go fanging over mountain passes and forget about the pram ... I did that once, luckily I had covered it with a thick blanket so it didn't damage anything ... but it did move quite a bit

Ahhhh! Don't use the words "family car"... I am still telling myself that my new Jetta (black graphite, leather - dark colors do suit the Jetta) is a "snappy, trendy combo" rather than suitable for my 2 kids under 3....

                      Your username suits then

Friends of ours also bought a Jetta because they were starting a family. Interesting statistics, I tell ya.

LOL! Just think of it as a sporty and luxurious conveyance for multiple people.

Haha - I've finally shed the sluggish "family wagon" and now drive a rocket. The fact the kids like to travel in it is beside the point...

                              congrats on both arrivals due...
we have had a jetta TSI for the last 2 months and have been rapt with it.. was originally going to get a Passat wagon as we had a baby to think about... decided upon the Jetta (spewing it doesnt have shift paddles or come in manual). Have found the boot space really good and its pretty good as a sleeper. baby seat fits in quite well without compromising front passenger seat position.

We were also looking at the Passat. Strangely, for me, at 2m tall, I have more room in the drivers seat of the Jetta than the Passat (too big a centre console in the Passat) so that's why ended up with the Jetta.

The price diff between the V6 Passat and the TFSI Jetta was also nice ...
