Annoying moment again !

I dont have these problems in the wet. I live in Perth and i have AWD on my car
I know what you mean about gutters, it is very annoying when water gets in, but we have to live with it. I'd never trade this car for anything else (except an E46 M3 maybe )

If the GTI had roof rail/sills people would winge that a sporty hatch looks silly with Sills. If it doesnt have sills then people get wet when its raining (uhh, even if your car had sills im sure you would still get wet, if its raining)

If it didnt have enough power to spin the wheels people would winge that a sporty hatch with GTI name doesnt have enough power. If the car spins the wheels when you accelerate hard in the wet people winge.

Personally im incredibly impressed with the GTI (polo) especially in the wet.
But 330nm+ will never go hand in hand with traction, especially in the wet.

I can guarantee that any rwd car with the same torque to weight ratio (at the incredibly low RPM that our cars develop their max torque) would spin their wheels in the wet too.

Too many good things outweigh the very very few bad things.

I think you should nt be so hard on your Golf. Obviously if you want to be so aggressive when someone baulks in front of you restrain yourself man...your only going to shorten the life of your cars transmission & possibly yourself. So what if a bit of water splashes in heavy rain. The rain I experienced on that morning no car with gutters or without would not stop some water splashing in LOL Baz

I was a little dissapointed at the speed of the windscreen wipers at full speed....too slow in those conditions!

An alternative view of this situation could be that the car was being driven too fast for those conditions

I put my Jetta through its paces on Day 1 which incidentally was a day when we had some heavy rain in Sydney (18 Jan). I thought the car handled exceptionally well under hard acceleration (foolishnes in the wet but it scared the living daylights out of my brother in law). The ESP lamp was flashing pretty much at every set of lights. Once I decided to be normal again, a gradual role still allowed me to launch quickly without any traction loss.

As for rain coming into the car.....I have not yet experienced this problem or in the scale of things it may have been too little for me to notice.

A. I would rather sills or gutters on the 'sporty' car. The water coming into the door is a problem.

B. Traction control isn't 'up to it', than again, driving fwd (rwd) hard in the rain with a car that has punch ain't gonna work. Especially if you have the DSG wallop.

C. Window wipers are too slow at full pace. Headlights, which I thought were fine, in rain at night were very inadequate. I was driving slow when the rain was pelting down (and so was everyone else around me, god to see some sensible driving) but the wipers couldn't keep up.
