  • Annoying moment again !

This morning was drizzle very badly in Sydney, I was 2nd in the traffic light, the bastard in front just dreaming and wouldn't go when green, hence I cut into left lane and just a bit more heavier and faster than normal on accelerator, the bloody GTI wheel spin again for a sec and I can also feel the gearbox with a very loud noise of kickdown or whatever ...

Why the hell this always happen? Its my 3rd time when I jump start from stop, always tyres spin, isn't the car got traction control?

Also have any of you guys notice golf has the worst design when pouring down like SH|T, and once you open your door, all water from the roof goes all the way in the car like waterfall and get all my seats and around the door WET !!!

Never ever have a design this bad, the cheapest jap car I have always have like a gutter rail on the roof to direct the rain water to the back or front, why on earth such a german design car will miss this point ???

It rained for me this morning and the traffic was also bad.

Traction control will not prevent all slippage, just back off a little and you should be fine, make sure the ASP button has not been turned off.

If you are unhappy with the design, maybe time to trade in?

i think he just had the car for about 1 month.....

anyway with the traction control, i guess it's a matter of compromise. usually you only hear people complain they cut in too early and kill the fun etc.

It's raining so some common sense is still needed. Traction controll is exactly as it says - It atempts to regain control of traction if it's lost.

As for the leaking into the car - this is the first I've heard of it. Have you got a photo to show where it's leaking in? I'd be interested to see this.

traction control isnt magic it cant increase the grip your tyres have on the road. it also only cuts power once it realises the wheels are slipping so you will have some degree of jerkiness. could the noise you are talking about be axle tramp? if so, this could be the answer you want http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ght=latest+mod

i'm not sure what you expect from a car but if its raining the road will be slippery and so the wheels will loose traction on any car that has more power than a pushbike.

Although I'd agree with what people have said re the traction control I have to say that water cascading into the car from the roof when the windows are down is a problem I've had as well in my MKV GTI and it is very annoying. Quickly forgotten once on the move except for that unnerving 'damp' feeling where water has dripped on your pants....

uuummm, its not actually about leaking, I'm talking about while heavy rain, and once you open the door, you can see all the rain water going down from the roof and all the way onto the rubber seal on the car and dripping down a waterfall right onto the door sill location, especially yesterday afternoon storm, even my seats got all wet, so I need to froce my son and wife to perform this getting in or getting out action lightning quick, otherwise you can see rain water keeps pouring in like sh|t.

My concern is most other jap cars I have always have a roof gutter thing like rail on the both sides of the roof to stop water coming down and direct them to the rear, looks like VW never cares about this ... which really surprise me ...

Yeah noticed the same thing when opening the door.
Also have to have the window up even with the slightest of rain as its sucked straight in.
might have to get a side wind viser as I like a bit of fresh air all the time coming in.

There are 3 reasons why they don't do gutters
                        1. It's cheaper
                        2. Aero is better without the gutters
                        3. It looks smoother without gutters.

Not all jap cars have gutters. I also have an S13 nissan Silvia, which doesn't have a gutter either.

AWD drive for the wet weather win mate. Its one of the reasons I drive a Subaru and not my wifes Golf. FWD cars are always going to have this issue regardless of traction control equipment on them.

My wife got wet the way described a while back and I can tell you she was not impressed. She looked at my Liberty the other day and commented about the gutter feature as well.

I dont have these problems in the wet. I live in Perth and i have AWD on my car
I know what you mean about gutters, it is very annoying when water gets in, but we have to live with it. I'd never trade this car for anything else (except an E46 M3 maybe )

Whilst we're complaining about the Golf in the wet...I unfortunately had to drive through the worst rain yesterday, and I was a little dissapointed at the speed of the windscreen wipers at full speed....too slow in those conditions!
