My GTI arrives in the country within the next few weeks, when it was ordered the RNS 510 was specified as an option. Unfortunately the dealer was unable to confirm whether it would be the old sat nav or RNS 510.

What are my chances of a RNS 510?

Gordon, My understanding it was (on the Golfs) about week 50 production, which is due in Australia in late March, Early April.

If I was a betting man, I would say no.

My R32 arived in the country last week after an October 2006 order and will be delivered to me mid February and the dealer has confirmed it has the RNS 510 sta nav.

Excellent news - you'll love both R32 & RNS 510!

GTI was ordered very early Nov 2007, so i'm hoping all Sat Nav's processed through the Golf production line in Germany are fitted with RNS 510 from Oct 2007 onwards.

Stealer hopeless can't give delivery date or whether it's fitted with RNS 510 - i guess i'll have to wait and see what arrives!

Ask the dealer for the VIN number as soon as he has it. He probably has it already.

Then go to this site and enter the VIN number under auto cargo and you will find where your car is . . .

As for DIY, it depends what youre like with things like that. I'm fitting it myself and dont have any problem with it however some may find it a bit daunting.
There is a great guide in a forum somewhere on the install with pics. I just cant think where it is at the moment.

Does anyone know where else I can get the Bluetooth module from. The guy on eBay hasn't got them anymore and I've already ordered an RNS510 and was hoping to install them together.

Hey people. Just wondering if anyone know the difference between the bluetooth module that can be dealer fitted right now and the "premium bluetooth" module that is supposed to work with the RNS510? I have been reading through vwnavi and vwvortex and can't seem to find a straight answer.

The "current" kit is based on a Parrot 200 kit with a "Paser" can bus interface - pretty much the only command from the car is the phone button on the steering wheel can answer & hang up & do a couple more features. It does not have individual volume controls (speaker / microphone) and the parrot kit is based on sells for less than $200. I had one in my GTI, and I threw it in the bin the other day - I was extremely dissapointed with it.

The "Premium" unit has a large processor in it & it made by "Temic" who are a division of Continental tyres in Germany.

Sent him 950 Euro on Monday morning, He sent the unit that day. Can't ask for much more than that. He's been brilliant. Let you know when I get it.

I agree, he is very good to deal with.

I'm still waiting for mine. It should be here in the next couple of days as i ordered my BT from Czech Republic as well and it was posted 1 day before the 510 was. I received the BT yesterday.

Cant argue with the price of 950 Euro hey.!!!

Its the one for the MK5 Golf. Yes rounded corners.
It worked out to about $1600 delivered.
