  • Presenting the new RNS 510 navigation & friends!

Its awesome - theres about 30 photo's - check it out! I have used a lot of nav systems over the last 5 years, but VW finally has come out with the best inbuilt system.

We also installed the "premium" bluetooth unit as well - its an expensive option & may not be offered in Australia, but those who want it, you know its possible!

any idea how much it'd be to retro-fit one to a MY08 Golf/Jetta?

That looks pretty cool. How many beans? And is that an MY08 GTI that already had the Highline MFD?

Retrofit (if possible) is where it is at for current owners though.

You can buy the RNS510 brand new with latest version 1000 software and install it yourself for just about 1000 Euro including freight and the GPS antenna.
You can also get the premium bluetooth module (original VW) for about $450

              Dont pay retail.

Where can I get the premium bluetooth module? Would it be a DIY fit?

                    WOW...

Guy_H are you able to sell these? (both RNS 510 and BT module)

                    if so how much?

                    looks awesome...

I currently have a standard RDS300 (i think - the unit with 6CD stacker in dash), therefore i have a small MFD - is there a possability to upgrade this to High Line MFD (i think that is what it is called)? and cost?

                    thanks.

                    ..schneller..

As for DIY, it depends what youre like with things like that. I'm fitting it myself and dont have any problem with it however some may find it a bit daunting.
There is a great guide in a forum somewhere on the install with pics. I just cant think where it is at the moment.

Yes you can buy on Ebay. Same guy selling the BT that i posted above also sells the 510's.

I only got my BT from the ebay guy though

Yes get the eu one. The USA one has different hardware and another antenna connector on the back for the sirrus sat radio.

Also with the BT from ebay be sure to specify that you want the wiring harness and mic. Its the proper square shaped one that clips into the sunglasses holder vent thing in the roof.
It's an extra 45 euro but is required for the complete OEM install.

Once i get home and find the BT install guide with detailed pics i will post it here.

Hey kids - thanks, its a full retrofit to my 06' GTI. We also retrofitted the highline MFD cluster as well.

There was a lot of software sorting & coding done to make it work, and as its not currently released here we had to make our own maps (with some help).

Pricing? Tough one, we can only supply new ones with Australian wide warranty (as we mainly sell to dealers) 3k + maps for the head unit will be about correct - the premium bluetooth ~ $1500 fitted.

As with anything on ebay, you may save a few bucks at the expense of no warranty & no tech help.

Anyway, its awesome & we are happy that after all the time invested we have it all working 100%
