hope the following links help
One of our biggest qualms with the optional satellite navigation offered on Australian Volkswagens was the lack of clarity and the low quality graphics used to represent streets and objects. Speed was also an issue - calculating routes and devising different routes took far too long.
RNS-510 (MFD3) Navi System - Discussions about the RNS 510 systems found in the CC, Golf, Golf Plus, Tiguan, Passat, T5, Touran, Touareg and others.
fwiw, i have optioned the new rns 510 navi on my next car. the car will be delayed because of this. my projected delivery was for march/april... but it appears that actual delivery will be early/mid may.VAG-COM

There is a new touch screen hard disk based satnav coming out but VW are not sure when this will be arriving in australia. I am getting mixed stories from different dealerships.

Certainly seems a good step forward for the nav systems in VW's

I just picked up my new Jetta with the SatNav and have to say the unit is a little bit of a let down. From what I have seen of the new touch screen based unit this will be an awesome upgrade.

Found these Threads.
This last one has a VWA document saying that for a GTi it is $2,490. The 6 disc changer is no longer automatically included and costs a further $790.
As a part it will be about $3000 (not inc fitting) available end of Feb.
Bluetooth will be available, but it will be the same factory bluetooth that is available now. The full interface where numbers come up on the screen and full access through the unit will be available at 'some stage' this year.sigpic GTI | MY08 | Blue Graphite | DSG | Leather | Bi-Xenon | RNS510 |

Do you think you'd be able to upgrade to the full interface bluetooth when it becomes avaiable?Originally posted by mark4323 View PostFound these Threads.

Probably about time to visit a couple of the spares people to see just what the status of this system is. I was going to install the Eclipse AVN6000. We've already got it in a couple of cars and it works very well (as a navigator and all its other functions). But, I would rather have a more integrated look, plus having the MFD as part of the system appeals too.
My biggest reservation remains the maps. I know that the Sensis software works very well, and in the Eclipse is very quick. I guess we'll have to wait and see......MY08 R32, DSG, Sunroof, RNS510
