3 doors all the way!!!i grew up i south/eastern europe and we had a yugo. 3 doors, size of a Lupo if not smaller. Me and my sister grew up fine, eventhough the car had 3 doors. So if you wanna enjoy your car (like i do) 3 doors is the way!!!
It is easier with 5 doors, but then the car is just another hatch IMO. It looses that special thing about it and the sportiness. But thats just me.
My dog is not allowed near the car coz he keeps "marking" the wheels

I hate to tell you this, but he can probably smell where some other dog has p!ssed on your wheels, so he wants to keep trying to put his scent over the top of what is already there. Remember that leaving his scent is both territorial and a way of dogs keeping track of what other dogs are around (sort of like a smell driven version of this forum for dogs, reallyOriginally posted by balkanac View PostMy dog is not allowed near the car coz he keeps "marking" the wheels

I think the 3 door is better looking, but prefer the practicality of a 5 door. I have 2 dogs.
I would have bought a Polo GTi but the 5 door isn't available in Australia.
It bugs me when manufacturers only release their sporty models in 3 doors.
The Australian market overwhelmingly prefers 5 doors to 3.sigpic GTI | MY08 | Blue Graphite | DSG | Leather | Bi-Xenon | RNS510 |

2 or 4
in previous golf models I have always preferred the look of the 2 door.. I found the drivers seat belt top mounting on the two door..way behind you.... cuts into your neck over the top of the seat, very uncomfortable.... The 4 door has the belt just coming down across your chest. Hence I ve always bought the 4 door. bazza PS I dont have a dog!!

Well the way I see it is, how often do you have to drive more than one other person in your car at a time? In the two years I've been driving I can count on the fingers of my hands how many times I've given a lift to 2 or more people in my 5dr golf. It really depends on your use, but I must say a 5dr can be rather practical at times.
They're both as good as each other in my opinion, you can't go wrong!

for only extra $750 per door, 5 dr is a bargain !!! Everyone that I know (including mates who knows nothing about cars) said its would be shame to have the reason of just saving $1500 and get 2 dr less ... if $1.5k is not a problem, go for 5 dr !!!

Thats actually a very good way of looking at it. And whats the difference weight wise between the two, like 40kg or something? I'm pretty sure its rather insignificant!Originally posted by kaikor View Postfor only extra $750 per door, 5 dr is a bargain !!! Some like the 2 doors 'cause they are built in Germany, the 4 doors in South Africa. Some folks swear there's a difference in quality. Personally I couldn't see it.Originally posted by Bazzamon View Postwhats the go with 2 or 4 door GTIs. Ihave seen both on the road & I love the 2 door body. There is many more 4 door ones around.. is this because supply or choice of buyers? Bazza
From a design point of view, I'd say it was designed as a 4 door - look at the way the rear door shut line parallels the rear bumper/tail light cut line. Not that the 2 door is unattractive - it's not. I just think most folks just prefer the versatility of the 4 door.
I looked at the 2 door (Polo GTI and Golf GTI), but it's a pain if you carry more than 2 passengers often, and if you park in a squeezy car park often, those longer, heavier doors can be trying. The seat belt's a bit more of a stretch too every time you get in. Untested, but some say it's a bit harder to sell a 2 door (I don't agree - I think they're just a different market).
Having said that, if none of these things apply to you, get the 2 door. What you'll save allows for a sunroof (easily), or 1/2 way to 'cow on the chairs', or most of DSG, or....2007 Golf GT | DSG | TR | roof | iPod rubbish | R line fog grilles | R satin mirror caps | R pedals | R console trim | colour coded GTI valences | R32 Ormanyts
