i heard others say to keep the central resonator and remove the rear muffler and straight pipe that to tips. But whatever works in the end to get the results you after

Not really, plenty of guys overseas do it. Here's a clip of my car. Stock DP, resonator still in place only removed rear muffler and replaced with stainless steel ending in 4inch magnaflow tips.
