It's an interesting area - maybe a before and after pic?
No pics - sorry - and not sure that they'd show much anyway...

    But...

I installed the globes and (based on the bright spot on the garage wall test) they are significantly brighter than standard (I looked at one standard and one updated by way of reference). Patterns are unchanged (as expected), so there shouldn't be extra glare.

Having had a Subaru a few cars ago (2.5L Liberty RX), I can also testify to the weakness of its headlights. Its possible that the road ahead actually got darker when they were turned on!

      Fair enough...

Can someone post some pics of their Xenon lights at day, I'd like to see do they actually look different (and I don't mean does the light they shine look different, I mean does the headlight surround etc look different).

When I looked at the GTI in the brochure I couldn't tell a difference in what the light surround itself looked like...

          Just curious...

If you do a bit of country driving or night driving in general, then i'd say 100% write the cheque. If not... then it'll just be your own taste per budget.
Likewise - I'd never have another car without them. As a passenger, I often ask people with halogens if their headlights are on! Feel much safer being able to see pedestrians, the edge of the formed road pavement and SO much further in front.

There is only 1 arc in each xenon headlight assembly. Hi-beam is achieved by moving a lens out of the way of the beam. The halogens (small ones towards the centre) come on with high-beam, and are used to "flash" - rather than firing up the arc if the headlights weren't on.

Everytime I drive at night, I'm glad I paid the extra cash for them!

IMO, the stock colour is a great, bright white. I don't really like the blue / purple tinge ones that you will often see around.
