Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mine are the same deal... pretty crap and after market ones are not allowed to be manufactured for another 12 months or so....
I have resorted to buying some small square rubber mats to sit on top just to help preserve the mats that were meant to preserve the carpet....

While you're at the dealer, take a squizz at the mats used on floor. You might spot the difference.

My jetta has factory mats and about 3000k's and yes has a wear mark.
actually noticed it about 500k's. Might be the Nike shoes I use.

Ditto My MY08 GTI's driver's matt is wearing through. Pretty average. I wonder if warranty covers the matts?

Nah...it's considered normal wear and tear - so not under warranty unfortunately.

just goto clark rubber, buy a strip of rubber and stick it to whatever part of the matt your foot rests on usually. might look a bit ugly but no1 will see it anyway.

I bought a pair of rubber mats from the dealer, to replace the carpet mats in my r32. nothing wrong with the carpet, but i get muddy feet at work sometimes, so rubber is essential. the Golf rubber mats i got were really good, perfect fit, no rubber smell (last set in the subie STANK - killed the new car smell in days).

The rain sensing close is an option the Yanks and Euro's have been doing using the VAG-COM. Apparently, if you've got rain sensing wipers you can change 2 bytes in the code to enable another menu option in Convenience that makes the roof and windows close when either water is detected by the rain sensor or 24 hours has expired - whichever happens before you next unlock the car.

Mischa - they're doing it to help me out... so i wouldn't expect the same treatment i've got all the time... but the dealer is McGrath Volkswagen at Liverpool. They've been through some big... BIG... changes. A few small things happened during my sale that made me unhappy, but they're making up for it in every way they can. Very very very highly recommend their new team. They know their product pretty well, and their service is mind bendingly good... I'm glad i made the drive out there!

I said earlier - i'm a picky customer. My mates in the car industry all recon they'd put a dealer warning out about selling me a new car But McGrath have really been excellent with everything. Great group of people out there now. Well worth the drive to Liverpool if you're in Syd and looking for a new VW!
Must say thats a very different story to what I've experienced over at McGraths in Liverpool... They couldnt sell water to a burning man without screwing it up as far I'm concerned after going there for a test drive and a chat with the sales people when looking for my car.

Seems a few people here have had bad experiences - i got a PM from another member making similar comments about a bad experience he had. Well... what can i say? It's a new manager and a whole new team out there now. The attitude is 100% up on my first dealings with them in October. They've bent over backwards to make me happy. Their sales guys probably still don't know as much about something like a GTI or R32 as an enthusiast... but they'll admit that and do everything else in their power to help.

I got my car back from service today, and it's exactly as promised. They were honest, and the car is immaculate - just as i delivered it to them. A little test - i washed and cleaned the car (windows/vacumm/leather) prior to giving it to them. Not a mark on it, and not a sign that it's been washed. So, their service department gets an A+++ from me. They did all of the work as promised, and took extra care to locate the rattles i complained of. They couldn't find them... but i can't find them now either. Again, A+++ for being honest and keeping the car overnight to try and test again in the morning.

I don't know exactly how bad it was before, but the new team is great! I'm a very happy R32 owner now... and damn it, i seem to have gotten mine weeks before others even though it seems to have arrived at the same time
