I recently got my GT TDI and It came with what I was told was the factory floor mats. I can't believe that VW would charge $200 for these!! For one, my mats are grey while the carpet in the car is black. There's also no rubber pad where my heal goes so after only 2 weeks I'm already wearing a hole in them. I dont see them lasting more than a few months. What a complete waste of $200. This can't be right can it? Did the dealer give me some cheap Dealer mats perhaps? If not - anyone know where I can buy some quality mats?

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

a hole in it after 2 WEEKS??!!!
I don't know what shoes your wearing...but, i've been through 2 golf's and the carpet last at least 2 years before a hole appears.
I agree, a rubber pad would help and they are a bit expensive at $200.MY2007 BM 3Door GTI, DSG, Parking Sensor, Carbon Tint Windows, GIAC X, Scratched Alloys on LHS - NOT done by me!

Jester, GTI Mats are black too with NO GOLF logo.
From what i've seen they are identical to the R32's... i think you got the standard GOLF mats which do have the GOLF stitching...MY2007 BM 3Door GTI, DSG, Parking Sensor, Carbon Tint Windows, GIAC X, Scratched Alloys on LHS - NOT done by me!

Very nice of dealer to loan you a GTI...MY2007 BM 3Door GTI, DSG, Parking Sensor, Carbon Tint Windows, GIAC X, Scratched Alloys on LHS - NOT done by me!

Nah, in for it's 1000km service after run in. They're also looking at a paint defect and a couple of other little things i wanted done - like the rain sensing window/sunroof close (fingers crossed they'll do it for me!) and a couple of slight rattles.
Yep, it is pretty good of them to loan me the GTI. They loaned me a Jetta for 5 days before i could get my R delivered. I'm hoping next service i'll get a TouregThey asked for the car for a couple of days, and i begrudgingly gave it to them after they promised me the GTI.
I'm actually pretty damn happy with the way they're sorting through my issues right now

The rain sensing close is an option the Yanks and Euro's have been doing using the VAG-COM. Apparently, if you've got rain sensing wipers you can change 2 bytes in the code to enable another menu option in Convenience that makes the roof and windows close when either water is detected by the rain sensor or 24 hours has expired - whichever happens before you next unlock the car.
Mischa - they're doing it to help me out... so i wouldn't expect the same treatment i've got all the time... but the dealer is McGrath Volkswagen at Liverpool. They've been through some big... BIG... changes. A few small things happened during my sale that made me unhappy, but they're making up for it in every way they can. Very very very highly recommend their new team. They know their product pretty well, and their service is mind bendingly good... I'm glad i made the drive out there!
I said earlier - i'm a picky customer. My mates in the car industry all recon they'd put a dealer warning out about selling me a new carBut McGrath have really been excellent with everything. Great group of people out there now. Well worth the drive to Liverpool if you're in Syd and looking for a new VW!
