Are you guys sure the mkv gti 09 did not include the tsi engine and not the tfsi engine? I though i read that on here some where or maby that was an american website?

i believe the american market mk5 GTI did get the 2.0L TSI engine in 2009.

american mk5 have quite a few specification differences to our mk5.

Hey Al, can you tell me a bit more about the gateway upgrade. I have a 05 GTI with a version C RNS510, and because this version was for newer models than mine, the steering wheel buttons don't work anymore with exception to volume. Would this gateway upgrade fix the problem and how do I get it done? Cheers, Tony.

Tony, there is heaps of info on it in the audio thread, or on my-gti.com. With the gateway upgrade, and an RCD510, I only have volume and mute on the steering wheel, mines an 07.

The GT is TSI but it's 1.4L

The GT did actually come in a 2.0L but it was a diesel. Worth looking at as an alternative to a GTi. I'm biased off course but I prefer the GT over the Gti - test drove both when I was buying and preferred the incredible torque down low in the rev range of the GT. GTi was probably a tad quicker but you have to work the revs to do it and the fuel consumption was much worse!.
