Resale on Skodas is actually really high in the UK I sold my MK1 Skoda Fabia VRS for the same price I bought it for after a years use.
Any German car company (including SEAT and Skoda) has amazing resales in Europe, the Mini Cooper D holds it's value the most with about 70% of it's original value still left after 3 years of ownership.2019 132TSI Tiguan

I loved my Mk5 Jetta but had to sell it in the end. People know that VWs arn't the most reliable cars and expensive to maintain and repair (all German cars for that matter), so keep away from them once past 100k. Hence, why they are so cheap on the used car market.
I couldn't believe they were going for the same price as Corollas and Civics of similar age which had less features (ie. they had no auto headlights, no auto wipers, no tyre pressure monitors, no rearview auto dimmer, no reverse parking sensors, no GPS etc). Maybe they are just safer options in the view of used car buyers.
I traded it in for $7k because no one wanted it advertised for $10.5k with RWC (129k with GPS and fully service history).
