Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

A friendly word of advice is to not hassle the hell out of dealers when autopatricks are involved.

Patricks generally wont take calls from dealers, they will only talk to regional brand managers.

Patricks can be very very slow and it really is from a dealers point of view out of our control.

We take your order then submit it to the manufacturer, they build the car, send it to us. ships can be delayed by all sorts of things including weather, then depending on how many cars are arriving into the country Patricks can take upto two weeks to get the car to the dealer.

When the car arrives at patricks it goes through a fair few processes.... ill prove it.

How cool - you must have good taste then! I went through Denlo at Parramatta, yourself? I must admit the communication process on when the car will arrive hasn't been very good, I've had to chase them to get any information, and it's always fairly vague...

I was told once it's at Patricks it takes 10 days til the dealer gets it in their holding yard, then about a week to get to me, depending on the options requiring fiting (which is none for me, given all my options should be factory fitted, not dealer fitted). I was told on 28th Dec that it was in Patricks yards, and given New Years public holiday, and the fact things a generally a bit slow early Jan, I'm going to wait to 10th -11th of Jan and call the dealer back to confirm if it's in the dealers yard (assuming the dealer doesn't call me before hand .... ha ha ha ha!).

        Where are you getting yours?
        Good taste indeed

Bit of a coincidence, but I also went through Denlo Parramatta - probably a good chance that our cars came in on the same boat and are probably sitting next to each other at Patricks as I type this!

Still haven't got an exact date for delivery as yet. I received a call yesterday to confirm the car has arrived and is now at Patricks and that they'd let me know once it arrives at the dealership (probably mid Jan). I'm also getting the windows tinted, so that'll probably another day or so, so hoping to get it before the Australia Day long weekend. Not too long to go

Wow that is freaky...Given you've got the same thing, but with tint (I thought it had more or less a factory tint, so didn't bother, it will be interesting to see the difference) the next question is how much did you pay...? (If you don't mind me asking...) I paid $46,250 drive away (this was with a fleet discount).

you can already get it. but who cares its just stupid satnav it shouldnt have any influence whatsoever on the car you buy. if you're worried about that so much just buy a POS and put a 5000$ carputer in lol.

guys i said i wouldnt post a pic as they all look the same out of the factory! however i took one earlier before the car gets dirty! great car so far. I have always had jap cars and this is my first euro car. the dealer didnt supply me with the euro bracket holder for my front number plate. it looks good however the way it wraps around the front bumper. however i was a little annoyed I didnt get it. I asked them why and they said they didnt ship them out anymore with the gti.

I was going to stick with the factory tint originally, but have seen quite a few GTIs getting around with darker tinted windows which look good, so thought i'd do the same.

I also got a corporate fleet discount - paid the same as you more or less (w/ tinted windows included). My mate from work and I basically placed our GTI orders together, so that probably helped us a little with the negotiations (feel sorry for him though as his car doesn't arrive till April!).

Let me know if you get any news regarding delivery dates etc (I'll do the same) - hopefully not too much longer!

Maestro - car looks great...lucky bugger!

When you get a new one, there are a number of things to be checked, so far I have got a list of these:
                      Bottle Opener
                      Floor Mats - Correct ones
                      Scratches / Dents
                      Stereo Works
                      Manuals
                      Warranties

Is there anything else you should be really looking out for when you receive the car? (A sticky of a thread like this would be helpful)
                      MY07 GTI 5door Silver Manual (9.1kg / kw)
                      T2'008 (2.7kg / kw)

check the tyres!!!! the last car i picked up had a sidewall damaged tyre i noticed as soon as i drove it home, called the dealer and they said that its my problem because i had already left the dealership.

check any fabrics for stains (water/oil stains etc) and also check for scratches on plastic surfaces and scratches on the wheels.
