After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. the grand total was ~$60,500 OTR. this is fleet pricing (on a private sale), and should be achievable if you meet certain criteria.

if you work for (or own), a company with fleet vehicles you can submit your details and be registered for fleet pricing (as a private sale). the scale of discount is stepped in proportion to the number of vehicles your company has in its fleet. i am quite certain that if there are more than 55 vehicles in the fleet you are good for the maximum discount.

you should investigate this, and assess your eligibility. it really is worth it

    Howdi mate,

I also went fleet on my car and managed to get a decent saving...

For a 5Dr Manual R32, MY08, Sunroof, Bluetooth, Parking Sensors DBP for a smidge under 56k

A bargain if you are lucky enough to be able to arrange it.

My partner just bought an Audi S3 for 62k driveaway after originally getting a 'walk in' quote of 79k for the same bloody thing!

I really wish I had have known about the Sat Nav...Grrrr

Was tempted to get the older version sat nav but I heard stories of how complex simple procedures were. I love the look of the sat nav integrated dash.

It really gives me the ****s when sales people know zilch about the cars they sell!

Again - well done on the purchase - sounds like it will be an amazing car

Anyone know what mapping data they're using in the new systems? Sensis?

I was planning on installing an Eclipse AVN6000 into the R32, but I'll have to have a look at this if it become available as a dealer fit in a reasonable time frame.

        Thanks (again )

...and RE the sat nav... it is a shame that they were not aware/did not mention it.

you can have the new touchscreen navi retrofitted - as posted above...

perhaps make inquiry with the selling dealership, emphasizing that it was not offered when it should have been... pitch for a discount - that a retrofit should be offered at the cost of a factory install (which is cheaper).

failing that, write a nice letter to VW Australia, and see what they have to say about the matter. they helped me out with my last purchase - ironed out a few concerns nicely, and gave me 3 years free servicing.

speaking of which, on a fleet deal (this is my first) - are we eligible for the 3 year free service program? afaik it was always reserved for corporate customers (??).

nothing sad at all about that... i did the same when i got my 2.0TDI. not that there is anything wrong with that sort of thing. ahem. hehe.

i don't believe the r32 will be any different, i am hoping that the passion remains strong well into the relationship

I paid $46,250 in Sydney (Denlo Parra) for 5 Dr Black, DSG, Sunroof, Leather, Euro Plates, Drive Away, Full Tank of Petrol, and this was on fleet discount.

                      What's BG, in your signature?

Also, they didn't tell me there was a new Sat-Nav...so if this new Sat Nav is touch screen, does it use the buttons on the side? How much did it cost as factory fit?

                      Cheers!

                        Hi GTI_SYD

that's a good price on your GTI.

the new navi does have buttons up the side, but it also has touchscreen functions... not quite sure what the buttons are for (??)

this is all the info i currently have, i have not seen one up close...

One of our biggest qualms with the optional satellite navigation offered on Australian Volkswagens was the lack of clarity and the low quality graphics used to represent streets and objects. Speed was also an issue - calculating routes and devising different routes took far too long.

the new navi (factory fit) costs $2990.00, for the R32 and GTI - which is the same as the current navi units.

your deal is good. well done.

i didn't get sunroof cos i don't usually open the windows with the kids in the car so the sunroof will be a waste.

Yeah, I've got 2 kids aswell...but I've got a Ford Territory as the family truckster, so the kids won't spend too much time in this car. I've always wanted a sun roof, never had one before...hope it lives up to my expectations!

I'm sure you can't wait to pick up your car too - I'm hoping to get mine mid-Jan...and even that's too long!

                              Tracking your Order

                              Hi there,
congratulations on your order for the R32.....would have gone for that car if not for the fact that I am not much of a fan for hatches......I got the Jetta 2.0 TFSi DSG. I ordered my car at the end of September 07 and am still waiting. My dealer tells me there is no way of tracking the vehicle enroute. I have the VIN Number, Chasis number and also the Ship name but no idea on how to track where the vehicle is. Only info I have right now is the Ship will be docking in Sydney on 16 January.......can't wait.

The wait has been nothing but tortourous.....I drool every time I see a Jetta on the road.

I am curious to know if I will be getting the new Sat nav in my car.....should check with the dealer.

If anyone can help, would appreciate it.

                              Cheers
                              Tom

I actually spoke to VW Aus today about it, and they said there was no 'official' way of doing it - but apparently if you find out the company that's shipping the car, they have a web-site that you can track it through. I've been told by the dealership today that mine's arrived and sitting on the dock's, so I haven't bothered to follow it up.

                                Hope you enjoy the Jetta!
