If only the yank had seen the light of non standard size rims BEFORE the slam bug hit him!

      • Well my latest mod has been done by someone in the carpark at work.

Nice scratch that runs from my passenger side door handle to my front wheel arch. Given the varying height of it id say someone has decided to run a key the length of the two panels. Lucky I can only just barely feel the scratch with my fingernail so it should mostly wetsand/polish out. Well thats what my friend who is a detailer seems to think anyways.

But yeah. I just cant win with my cars. This is the third time ive had one of my cars vandalised and its really disheartening!

                • weeeellllll my mate anthony come to the rescue yesterday.
He works for one of the loca BMW dealerships detailing cars and said he would have a crack at getting rid of my scratch.

A few of you guys saw it at the last meet and I wasnt sure about how well it would come out. But daaaaamn you can barely see it now!

Only problem we had was whilst giving the car a nice once over it really showed up just how bad the condition of the paint is. The roof and C pillars on the car are totally shagged. Its as though someone has washed the car with a broom! It has been like this since delivery. I really should have made a complaint to the dealer but im just not the whingy whiney type.
Im gonna bring my car back to him maybe a day or two before DOVW and he can take his time going over it all I think.

My friend at work! (and no he isnt a 12yr old boy)

                    • I think you will find that, at least in Oz, part of the money you hand over for the pre delivery, is to sweep the paintwork with a yard broom, to get rid of foreign particles that may have dropped onto the paintwork since leaving the factory.
If that isn't true, than I have no idea why my car was delivered with paintwork that looked like it had been wiped over with sandpaper.

something like this you mean? I know its a bad camera phone pic but you can still make out how bad it is near the reflection of the flouro light

Theyre so bad in some spots i can actually feel them with my fingernail

                        • Yea. I can't say I'm impressed with the quality of the paint on the brand new cars. tbh, 50K for a car with paint like that, isn't acceptable. But then again, they're a massed produced vehicle, so that's what you get.

Glad to here the scratch is fixed!

                          • well almost 2.5 years since taking delivery of the car I have managed to get the stance and handling to a point where Im still amazed at how capable one of these cars can be.

Only problem was that days after getting her just how I wanted her ive gone and sold her! New owner has taken possession this evening

I really enjoyed this car right from the day I picked her up! I certainly have to admit to having second thoughts about letting it go.

I think a couple of pics are in order

Not long after picking her up. A blank canvas

Obligatory road trip pic after making her mine

What a brilliant car.. But onwards and upwards it is for me
