removing stains

As i have a few stains on the front seats of my gti , im looking for a product that can easily remove these horrid stains basically the stains are from a few cool drink splashes and beer (passenger seat) let me know what you use , because my eyes roll every time i jump in the car ...

Get a bucket with some warm water (not hot - but warm) and some liquid washing detergent that you would use in your washing machine.

Then with a clean cloth (face cloth / terry towel etc), dip it in the bucket, ring it out a bit so thats its still quite wet and then clean the seat.

The area of the seat you are cleaning will get quite wet, so make sure you can leave the windows down/take it for a drive to air it out etc otherwise it will stink.

u could use a stain remover that you use on clothes and pretreat the stains before cleaning with soap and water. Also make sure u do it in the shade while the cabin is cool don't want to dry the pretreater before it has time to work. Once done cleaning pull the car into the sun with windows down 2 air it out. Or simply remove the seats and clean it and dry it and then refit.

I personally wouldn't use household detergents in the vehicle due to the way they treat my Polos (the shirts not the VW).

The greater majority of them leave your clothes looking "newer" by attempting to chemically dissolve the tiny bits of fabric which fray in normal use. The end result of this might be brighter colours but also weakened fabric and particularly stitching. Not so much a problem for clothes due to their limited lifespan but weak stitching on a car seat is obviously undesirable. In saying that I doubt doing it once would cause a problem.

Regardless there's plenty of automotive specific fabric cleaners out there which are a much milder (less caustic) solution. I've been particularly impressed with Bowden's Own Leather products in my Mk5 and the wheel cleaner is pretty nice too so I'd take a stab that their orange fabric cleaner (fabric cadabra or something) would probably work well (and where possible/reasonable I'd rather support an honest local business over a large overseas corporate conglomerate).

I've used "Foaming" household upholstery cleaner with good results.
