Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Apart from chewing through my clutch packs (changed to heavy duty) with 400+hp, and doing 180,000km no problems at all!!!

There aren't really that many problems with them. Mechatronics issues occur in a very small percentage of them but gearbox failures are rare.

A person who is new to the vw world who googles dsg gearbox 95% of the info out there suggests that dsg gearbox is noting but trouble, I was on the same boat buying my high ks travelled car. But as I soon found out its not all that bad as people make them out to be.

That's what vw service center said a lonnggg time ago. I'm actually excited to see what will happend. He said "if it pops ill just bin it" haha

Yes agree people are mainly only going to post about when they have a problem with a dsg, not when its working without fault.

On that note, mine is 56'000kms MY08 and no problems (did get the dsg service done recently ahead of time to be safe though)
