Was given a full defect check today at 13:30 on Doncaster Rd.
I was pulled over right after the McDonalds next to the video store and they claimed I was driving erratically, no idea what they were about as I'd been in the middle lane since turning on from Springvale Rd. They then asked me to take my car to the station (half a block down) for a full defect check on my car. They had six, count 'em SIX officers looking over my car for half an hour. Claimed my car was too loud, had a modified exhaust, boost gauge wasn't legal, headunit wasn't legal, and to top it off, they claimed I had illegal substances (marijuana) on the driver and passenger's side floor mats.
I then had to call VW Barloworld and get them confirm that my car was stock standard. That threw out the exhaust modification and loudness defects. Then we got onto the boost gauge. As there isn't any intake changes (it's a boost tap, not actually counted as an intake change) still leaving me with 2 intake changes I can legally add on. I was then told that two intake changes are legal, not one. They then threw that defect out the window.
The headunit was them being incredibly retarded and a small google fixed that for them.
Onto the illegal substances. They took both mats in for inspection and testing. Came back for 15 minutes later saying there were no substances found on the mats, but it smelled highly of marijuana, guess I must've stepped in some at work.
All in all, they wasted 45 minutes on my car with 6 officers going over it with a fine toothed comb. That's 45+ minutes that they could've spent on actual crimes being committed in the Manningham area, but instead spent it on my car. This is the second in as many weeks. Seems to be the same guys pulling me over and doing it too.
