Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Damn Does that mean I was sold a MY06 with a MY07 steering wheel?

No wonder the selling dealer will not take or return my calls.

I'll be ringing VW Australia tomorrow

where did you get the info that the 07's have a dpf? vw has always advertised the gt as having the dpf but never mentioned it for the 103's. they're not in the business of charity so i highly doubt theres one in any of them.

easy way to find out your model year is to check the vin and use something like this http://www.abvwc.org.uk/vw_vin.htm it should also tell you your engine number and from that you can determine if its an engine number with a dpf or not.

The salesman; but I have now checked the 07 spec brochure they gave me and you are all right - no mention of the DPF. I feel pretty stupid - damned stupid sales reps
Oh well, that explains the general level of **** that comes out of the exhaust - A true diesel owner and here I was buying this because it seemed ecologically responsible... From now on it will be on pure driving pleasure

If you go to the german VW website www.volkswagen.de and choose the Golf then run through the "Konfigurator" you will see all the engine options there.
For the 2.0l TDI it actually states DPF.

Gee they have some options over there, they can configure the car basically how they want. Not to mention all the colors they can choose from.
