07 Jetta Tdi startup issues....

Heya all! I'm having a slight issue with my jetta upon startup, firstly after it cranks over and fires it sounds like a rattly old tractor ( I know that's inherent with diesels but my main daily drive is a heap of junk Triton 4x4 diesel and that Doesn't sound as bad) further more, occasionally It won't actually fire / I have to crank it over for quite a while for it to fire. Could this be a DPF issue or something more sinister? I will upload a video that might clarify this... Thanks !

Interesting. Doesn't sound like a DPF issue. Are you even sure you have a DPF? I have an 07 Jetta and i don't have a DPF.

Does it only happen when its a cold start? My Jetta is pretty noisy on cold start.

Which suburb are you located? Might be wise to do a quick scan to see if you have any error codes. Happy to swing by or meet you somewhere if your near Chaddy.

hey getjet it happens pretty much all the time (the noise that is) the non-starting issue is sporadic.

i live like 5 mins from chaddy hahaha!

is only rattly on startup and idle? Does it rattle when you shutdown?

Could be the the dual mass flywheel starting to rattle, sure there's plenty of info on here about them.
