Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Coz i can only use 15,000 km per year, hence after the calculation, its almost a break even if you buy the car one off by cash, of course the biggest difference is i don't have to fork out $40K in one go ... I guess the best benefit you can get out of this fleet thing is if you can use over 25,000 km !!!

Most of my MP3 song names are in Chinese, I guess this headunit won't able to display chinese characters, right?

WOOHOO, confirm to pickup my baby on Thu arvo !!! CAN'T WAIT !!!

            1) make sure the bottle opener is there and brand new
            2) make sure carpet mats are there and brand new
            3) make sure there're no scratches or dent on the body

            What else ???

ive heard that people have found stains on the upholstery. on a brand new car i picked up (a vw) earlier this year i found a bubble on one of the tyres (sidewall damage) but because i had left the showroom i had to replace it myself.

              so check:
              upholstery
              tyres for defects
              wheels for scratches
especially check around the door handles for scratches

              aaaaand you should be sweet

THX for the tip, that sucks to replace a tyre at your own cost ... they're not cheap man !

i remember one more thing, will they also scratch the bottom of the front bumper ??? i would assume all these bloody machanics won't give a damn to customers new cars when they go thru humps or dips ...

dunno if theyd be scratched, i guess its possible... but the car isnt very low at all so its not gonna scrape on regular humps or dips, only crappy driveways etc..

Make sure they show you through the entire car and its features. It should take around 30 mins. Make sure all of the electrics work ie windows, mirrors, wipers, washers, headlights, radio, combi-instrument, etc. Check that the jack and its attachments are present. Ask any questions - take a list - they are only salesmen, and they have to answer all your questions. Soak it all up, because it's not often you buy a new car.

OH BOY, once you driven the GTI, i really can't make myself going back to drive a civic or jazz (which I used to have) any more ...

The car is absolutely AMAZING !!! Solid, Well built, doesn't feel like driving a small hatchback at all compare to my Jazz ...

German Engineering, thumbs UP !!! Long live GERMAN cars !!!

Damn the dealer only gave me a PEN and a CAP ... no umbrella or mug at all ...
He said if I have my deal as a walk in customer instead of a hugh discount from fleet, then I may get more freebies ... as a sweet deal like this. they don't have much profit margin ... bull !!!

Is there a bloody way I can make my mp3 chinese ID3 tag display correctly on the headunit screen, all I got are bunch of Russian or Korean like chars ...
