I agree, anyone who wants the extra performance from their car should do their homework and read the forum in the depth and ask many questions.
Sorry, I can't multi quote on Tapatalk, so in response to this in a few of the above quotes, if the OP had done his research, he would have seen that there is an entire section dedicated to chipping and brands, and of he used the Search function he would have seen that this same topic has been covered more times than I can think of across all vehicles on this forum.
As soon as this thread came up the Mods should have deleted it and PM'ed the OP to direct him to use the search function... This way we would have avoided yet another Chip Thread that answers the OP's question within the first 6 posts, descends Into a chip war, then is locked too long after it should have been dealt with.

There's loads of interesting reading in the Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) section on these two, and many other tuner brands besides. Both quality products. But if you're keen to get what's best for you, why not head out to the next meet and speak to guys who've tuned their cars - get them to take you for a ride and see how the cars feel? PM blokes who've gone with one tuner or another, and see if you can score a ride in the passenger seat. That's the best way to do your comparisons, unless all you're looking for is the maximum possible power - in which case, as has been said, they're all very close so you're laughing either way.

Unfortunately, the best you're going to get on the forum is someone else's opinion (valuable though it might be).

As many quoted at many places in VWwatercooled, the best option to them was to choose a brand that has the tuner based close to you for the back up. Read through this section Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) as much as you can, not just the first page and use it to make even a better informed decision. That's what I would do.

There is a section for it, not far from the top of the forum.

Get which ever brand which gives you the best support, i.e. closest to home in case car goes to limp mode, best e-mail and communication feedback in my opinion. All stage 1 tunes give relatively the same gains give or take a few as mentioned above.

I went with REVO due to the customization options available. You can select your own boost/timing/fuel depending on your hardware, or go with some of the presets. Again, depending on how far you want to go with your mods, REVO can accommodate for them all. Their customer support is fantastic and so is their product.

Almost all of the current tunes can offer that in one shape or form

This thread definately needs to be deleted as posted way back.
