Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

having quality fuel passing through the injectors shouldnt cause a problem ? tho i also have a slight miss fire on idle , maybe due to carbon buildup !

I dont think any amount of good quality fuel is going to stop carbon buildup. But it will definitly take longer Id imagine.

Its no theory , it is the injectors unless you are having a distinct knock, in this case you may have a worn bucket and or a worn inlet cam, this happened early in thepiece but there is still a few out there, AXX is a candidate and early BWA, later ones were better but they are still noisy

Went to VW today cos the engine noise (sort of a constant mechanical thrash that seems to come on a idle) is givin me the ****s. Turns out after a bit of probing it appears to be the timing belt cover rubbing on the timing belt! bad news is its a bitch to replace, including removing the engine mount. So I might just put up with it for a while. Until I decide to put on some VWR engine mounts!
