All this is beside the point, what colour do YOU want? WE aren't the ones putting down the money. But reading between your lines, you sound like secretly you really want a white one. Why keep buying silver cars? It may be the world's most popular colour, but so what?
Good point BarneyBOy! But im only refering to the electromagnetic spectrum....that which is visable to the eye,not to the properties of the paint itself.(Newtonian colour theory and light).
Oh yeah and im still working on a thesis on sex and the colour white...must be someway to tie that in to the thread..any ideas??

ok yes i admit i do secretly want a white one. well tbh i had a white commodore before the golf and so when the dealers said "what about white" i just cringed and didnt contemplate it. and so other than white the only light, non-chick colour was silver (not that red is a chick colour but its a bit too loud for my liking).

White and Silver have one advantage - they stay clean longer and even dirty they still look "ok". There is only 1 deg.C. Difference between white car and black in the interior temperature.
I hope that helps a bit in making the decision.

vw owners arent normal males... i think they are on average, quite fastidious about their cars

Yeah I think i'm gonna settle on silver. I would normally go black any day of the week but swirl marks and scratches really show up not to mention those damn dirt spots after a quick shower.

It does highlight the poor choice of colours WV offers. Nothing really fits my personality in the colour range. The R32 blue is hawt but I guess the VW marketing department said nay.

                  Hey Guy's.

I have gone from owning previous white cars to Blue graphite.

Has taken two days and I have fallen in love with it.
Even said good morning to it this morning.

Drove the thing home in the rain on Friday and it still does not need washing.

I thought I read somewhere the golf now has the option of Blue graphite.
So how about considering blue graphite??

Just thought I'd throw a spanner in the works.

                  neil.

                    Can you remember which study?

I'm looking for any excuse to go for grey just to spite my wife who calls it 'panzer grey' - but she wont be driving it anyway.

Hehe, go silver, white is for fridges and washing machines!

The only white I've ever tolerated (and in fact loved) on a car was Subaru's "arctic pearl white". Now *that* was a cool colour. But the flat VW whitegoods white - meh...

                      Cheers

                        wow!
how do you get it colour coded? i'm just about to place my order for a comfortline (Riley, you can ask for an 08 compliance so do consider it!) and am trying to figure out colours too.

i really like the United Grey but there's SO many golfs with that colour...
and I really like black but it's going to be scorching in summer.

And i don't know how red and blue look... but looking at that white with the colour coded bumpers.... that looks really good! is that an option for comfortlines or is that extra that you have to do at the mechanics? do you think it'd look different cos it's plastic?

                        MY12 Golf 118 TSI, manual.

if you get it done well, it looks the same. the top half of the bumper that all of them have painted from the factory is the same plastic as the unpainted bottom half. so get the genuine vw paint and a descent detailer and it'll look schmick. it'll set you back between 500-900 for it done very nicely (including the front bumper, side strips and door handles). try and find out who the dealer gets theirs done through and go straight to them.

i like the colourcoded white because it looks the best and its unique. i wish for an end to world poverty and world peace
