Hey dudes, this is my first post. Been reading all of the great advice and then I came along and found this post. GermanwithaVdub, you won't believe it but I'm in the same boat.

Just put my order down on a Reflex Silver GT Sport TDI and now I can't decide if I like the colour.

I've already signed the order...is there any going back?

          Frig.

ey welcome to the forum/community. i reckon i might be able to haggle my dealer to throw in the colourcoding instead of giving me the money back i paid for metallic paint. what dealer did you order it from? worst comes to worst, you'll just have to forfeit the amount you paid for the metallic i guess, but if anything you should at least be able to get some tints or something thrown in.

what specs did you get (leather or cloth, nav or not, dsg or manual)?

              -michael.

I might just get the front lip and the rear colour coded. Someones silver GTI on this forum looks the business with colour coding.

                      Torn between 2 awful colours

I my opinion white cars reflect the owners colour 'blindness'. White is NO colour. Silver. Silver is just the same as body primer..No colour has been applied yet. Same as white ..it equeals NO colour. Choose a colour like red ,blue yellow, brown, green or grey..etc. The best GTI colour is RED or that GREY colour. Volkswagen should be shot because of the woeful so called colour range on the Golfs.. Have you seen the colour range on the Transporter commercial, now thats how it should be......

lol you cant say they're not colours... they're just the more understated less loud ones. i love the grey but its just so damn unsafe and since its my daily i want something safe. but on the other hand i dont want my car looking like a lollypop

oh and its 26-12 in favour of white i was secretly hoping for that hehe

Keep the silver, you could regret it later.
Would you buy secondhand white car?
                          I would preffer silver.

Well according to Newtonian colour theory white contains all colours(or visible frequencys in the visible electromagnetic spectrum), so from a post Freudian/Jungian point of view the displayed elements of the owners so called "blindness" could be viewed as an all encompassing universal vision,a true over arching metaphore for a world view that resides outside the constraints of the current western ontological ideology! And thats without counting cup holders!!!
Secondly given that the vehicle is to be driven, then relativistic effects should be taken into consideration, more importantly in this case, wave compression.
Known as Doppler shift, this has a dramatic impact on the colour of car.To an observer looking at an approaching vehicle the light waves will become compressed shifting the colour into the blue spectrum and conversly from behind the receding vehicle, the colour will appear red shifted. This is vitally important to remember when approaching red lights at sufficient speed, they will turn green!Very little data is currently available on how many accidents are caused by this.
I hope this helps in selecting a colour for your car
And now for the colour green.................

Well there's two spectrums to look at:
Additive spectrum (red, green, blue) like on a TV where the 3 primaries added together give white, and
Subtractive spectrum (magenta, cyan, yellow) like with ink or paint where the 3 primaries added together give (nearly) black.

All this is beside the point, what colour do YOU want? WE aren't the ones putting down the money. But reading between your lines, you sound like secretly you really want a white one. Why keep buying silver cars? It may be the world's most popular colour, but so what?

Some people don't have a favorite color and it is harder for them to decide. Women usually choose the colour to suit their handbag or some other item they have a man is usually not fussy about the colors of the car he drives. White and Silver have one advantage - they stay clean longer and even dirty they still look "ok". There is only 1 deg.C. Difference between white car and black in the interior temperature.
I hope that helps a bit in making the decision.
                                Cheers.
