27 euro is not 30 bucks

Just pointing out to those who may have missed the finer reading and saw the 30 only. Though with our strong currency atm it's only around $40-45 so still quite worthy.

      very worthwhile.....

rang around another 2 dealer service centers today and got more random responses....

Response 3.."120,000kms is first DSG Service"

Response 4.."Needs to be done within 90,000kms"

      Thats 4 different responses....

For a bit of kit that costs $15,000 plus to replace...they have no idea...will be contacting VW Aus about this as its not good enough.

Good luck with contacting VW Aus.

I emailed them regarding some fairly simple TDI technical questions that the salesman could not answer.

That was nearly a week ago and I've received no response at all - which is not exactly confidence-inspiring when you're a potential purchaser.

I have had my MKV TDI serviced at 15000km as per drivers manual, now sticker that dealer put on says to bring it back at 22500km
Why is that? What happened to 30000km?
            Can anyone answer?
Another thing i found out is a recall sticker underneath top hinge, drivers side door with recall number and date completed
Do you guys have same sticker?

They just do that to get more money out of you by bringing the car in earlier. Personally, I think it is a good idea to change the oil at that interval, but it is not the 'official' VW interval.

Change it when you want, as long as it is within 12 months / 15000km.

change it yourself halfway between the vw 15000 intervals, you'll save 100$ by doing it yoruself, your engine will be better off for it, and you still get the all important sticker from vw

It could be related to engine oil they used or to driving under severe conditions.(check owners manual)

I drive 56 km a day, to work and back and all is city/hwy driving.... Since Feb '07 until Oct '07 i have travelled 15000 km. That would not qualify a severe driving conditions, would it?

ACDC no 56km a day (2 x 28km) shouldn't qualify as severe driving. Severe is normally where it's (a) very cold (b) very dusty (c) a lot of very short trips.
                          YOu don't seem to qualify.

I think the recall was for a flash fix where the radio would stay on when the key was removed and drain the battery.I think it was an issue about 6 months ago....If you do an archeological dig i through dusty tomes of "watercooled" you should unearth a thread that dealt with this....

I got a letter from the dealer advising that my car was due for it's 1st service - i got it 6 months ago!!!!! Yeah right.
First required service is 12 months or 15000km, but the recommended service is 7500km. So the smart ass dealer decides to go for half on the 12 month cycle as well. Not at all impressed.

Stealers is right. How many people do they catch out with this crap. Probably too many.

Mine will go in for a 7500km service, as long as they agree to change some of the convenience options for nix, otherwise I'll do the oil change myself.
