actually, i also have the same problem, at night i'm always getting flashed by oncoming cars thinking i've got my highbeams on, some even go to the extent of leaving their high beams on, unlucky for them the only way i can let them know i don't have them on is to flash them. What else can you do.... turns your lights off??

Wow..I never knew that xenons could be that much fun. I think Babee just invented a new game

But on a more serious note, VCL888 was good enough to drive by my house on the weekend and show me his lights at night. My thoughts were that they are exactly what you would expect from xenons. Good cut off and light colour. Very classy.

I often see a lot of riced up rides around my suburb and really hate those aftermarket HID kits that people put on their cars. I really don't think some of these people understand that whilst a bluer looking light may give a better "cosmetic" look to the car, the bluer you go the less effective your lights are at night.

I think it's because of these idiots that people with actual xenons get flashed sometimes.

          hahaha

i get high beamed all the time!! you have to be careful because theres always some idiot who will brake really hard or slow down and then high beam you from behind.

i now have my hand on the high beam so when they do high beam you blast them back with your own high beam.

Sorry to re-visit an old thread but I wanted to post this on a forum to urge other Golfers/Jettaers with bi-xenon headlights to check their alignment.

I have been followed by GTIs with bi-xenons on a number of occasions and the glare from behind can sometimes reach my sunvisor/ceiling which I think could pose serious danger of dazzling incoming drivers, as I also used to get a lot of high-beam flashes from incoming cars - until I adjusted my bi-xenons down a couple of notches with allen key....really easy!

I seem to think the VW factory alignment is a bit too high for urban driving and probably more suited for freeways & autobahn for further reach.

About time VW brings out the smart beam assist!

Are you sure that the GTI's behind you have genuine bi-xenons fitted? Proper bi-xenons don't have any glare and for it to reach your sun visor points to after market installs because this is exactly what they do.

And are you sure you didn't just stuff up the calibration of your b-xenons by adjusting them manually when your care does adjust them and the people flashing you are probably idiots who see you car bounce up and down a little on bumps in the road?

If I lived down there, I'd certainly go out of my way to flash you.
                    Perhaps with the car too.

Ive got Xenons and Ive been flashed and abused heaps of times. (melb. victoria)

-Taxis hate them and high beam the crap out of you.
-Old cars get blinded by them because it brightens up their whole car!
when at the intersection and first in line, you blind the driver on the otherside of the intersection.
-people on the hwy will high beam behind you.
-you will cop abuse a lot and have to drive fast as driving slowly behind another driver will blind them.

they're good and bad at the same time. i don't know if ill get them again...

You'll find that a lot more vehicles will have them standard in a few years time, even poverty packs of allsorts! Bloody top of the range Corollas now have them standard (although they're not bi-xenon, just lo-beam xenon only).

I don't really get all that upset if someone without better knowledge flashes because they think I have my high beams on. As you say a quick flash back is all that's required to let them know we have our normal lights on.

Well aligned xenons should not blind any oncoming traffic nor the car in front you are following. Take a look at the cut off of our lights, say when you shine at your garage door. You will notice a distinct line as to where the beam from our headlights cut off. Compare this with aftermarket xenons (a.k.a. HIDs) installed into cars either without the correct lens projector and/or without auto levelling (notice when you turn on the headlights of the R32 it does an automatic levelling thing).

What really gets me pissed are the ricers (and I use that term generally as I have been seeing some commodores and other makes lately with them) that install aftermarket xenons that actually do blind oncoming traffic. These are most notable by the bluish tinged light coming from them, and are most likely the reason why people with actual xenons get flashed. In my opinion it doesn't look the least bit "cool". If only coppers would do something about them.

Oh as an after thought, if someone is travelling behind you with "illegal" xenons you can always put on your rear fog light. I hear that is pretty blinding.

                            4WDs!

They're clearly great lights from a drivers point of view - and I'll enjoy them on my 32 - but I really hate it when you come across a big 4WD with them!

Due to the extra height, their lights shine directly in to the cabin of hatches especially. Bad enough with normal lights, but it's seriously distracting when a new Range Rover or Bimmer sits on your tail with xenons!

that may well be the case.. but in me mums 650i bmw the zenon lights change the beam angle and turn in to a high beam

so ie when you push the stalk forwards (permanent high beam) the zenons beam angle changes and light up everything in front

when you pull the stalk towards you (ie flashing your high beam) the regular halgoen beam flashes.. its very cool.. im very jealous..

that car also has dynamic levelling it adjusts as the angle of the car changes.. and weight shifts around.. well dope!

yep it is.. i ran an aditional wire over to the other tail light so both Fogs illuminate.. not just the "one"

                                = very blinding
