What about Shell Optimax?
Interesting UK article here. As one of the cars they tested is a GTI it's reasonably relevant.

Mate, only fuel I would even consider for my car is the BP Ultimate 98. Used Optimax previously in my other cars (Holden Calais V6 Supercharged & Mazda 6) and made them run like tractors. I used it even before my service dept. recommended it to me. Maybe read the threads in "Fuels and Lubricants" for more informed advice than what I can give.sigpicTwo more feet and I can fit it in the fridge!!-Homer S.

Well I filled up with BP Ultimate 98 a couple of days ago and I'll say it does make a HUGE difference to the useless juice the dealer puts in. It feels like I've added another turbo.
On my way to work on Thursday, I put my foot down on the Dreamworld on-ramp to over-take a truck and I was doing 180 by the time I got to the motorway!!! Amazing!!!
With regard to doing a consumption test, we did one in SA using a few cars and each one ran 3 tanks of each kind of fuel and we recorded the results. We also had access to a dyno to compare KW figures and the results are different.
I'm prepared to give it a go if anyone else wants to take part.
Any thoughts....I'm not Bossy!!! I just know whats best for everyone.
