Hi guys
I tried to look up this post as I thought I had posted something here a while ago and could not find it.
Basically in the thread I was commenting about the need to have a wheel alignment UNLESS you had made a mess of the front end by bashing into kerbs.
At the time my old Corolla had done 40,000 kms without a wheel alignment. It had seemed on other cars I had as soon as I gave it a wheel aligment I was commited to doing it over and over again to keep the tyres in alignment.
This may disgust some out there but my GTI has now reached 90,000km without a wheel alignment! I have driven over kerbs but never smacked into one sideways. Looking at the wear it is even across the tyre and there does not appear to be any tracking problems or issues with the tyres. I have gone through three sets but I find that is more due to my driving style on the front tyres as opposed to edge wear and the like I used to experience in those cars where I had to constantly get them aligned.
Basically my view is now that unless I see evidence of alignment problems I will never have an alignment again.
So anyone have a similar story or even a tale of woe regarding wheel alignments?
Happy driving!
