  • Jetta Tdi with constant issues

Being a VW Golf advocate, I talked my mum into buying a VW for her next car. She ended up getting a '09 Jetta Tdi from Denlo in Parramatta. Great car.... when it starts.

For the 6 months she has owned it, the car has been back in the workshop 4 times, been towed a couple and she has had to be rescued by roadside assist about 6 times. Basically it's reached the stage where she doesn't like going anywhere in it for fear of being stranded - understandable for a 68 year old woman.

Denlo have been sympathetic, but unable to fix the issue despite trying numerous ECU scans, fuel flushes, key recodes etc. I can't see how she can continue putting up with this, no point buying a near new from a VW dealer and end up with a unreliable lemon.

Wondering if anyone has had any luck escalating issues like these where the car is clearly a lemon to either denlo senior mgt or VW aust management?

    Sorry for your troubles.

I think the first thing I would be doing is contacting VWA and see if they can resolve this issue.
Most likely they will refer you back to the dealer but you need VWA to be aware of the issues.
Let the dealer know this is now not exceptable and if they cannot correct the issue you will
    be seeking legal advice.
Ask for an appointment with the dealer owner/manager and have all documentation of all the
times it has been back/towed etc.
The only other avenue would be to threaten both party's the car will be parked out the front of the
dealer with large lemon signs stuck to it.

Although that might work (and I'd like to see it!), the other option is to contact the ACCC:

      Buying a motor vehicle

As said above, I would suggest discussing with VWA and the dealer in the first instance.
MKV Golf 2.0 TDI DSG Sportline. Just nice.

Ive had this happen to my 2009 gt TDI twice had to crank the engine for over a minute before it showed any sign of starting, the first time i rang road side assist but they hadn't a clue , lucky for me i just persisted and it started ,
Both time the car had sat unused for a few days but it hasn't happened for over 3 months now so maybe it was just some water in the Diesel ??

thanks for the tips, she has the car back now from the dealer so will observe again for a few weeks. I've made sure she has kept a diary of the events in case we start writing letters.

hey mate i understood your rant, but could you please provide more specific examples of symptoms? also, i'd suggest posting those symptoms directly in the diesel section of vw watercooled.

you never know, there might be an easy fix...
