  • Cheap Road Worthy Certificate

    Hi Guys,

    I need your help!
I just bought a demo GOLF V GTI, with just over 5K's on clock. Basically brand new.

I now need to get the plates changed to VIC plates, but can you beleive it although it's basically new - VIC roads want a road worthy certificate.

DO any of you guys know a mechanic near in Melb (preferbly close to kew/hawthorn) that can write one up for me??

    Needs to be cheap tho...

    Thanks,
    Larry

Did you get from a dealer? If so they should provide you with one??

Don't know where you can get one done but they are usually around $50 I think.

Try Volkspower - they do certificates - they are in Burwood (But I have no idea where that is in relation to you.... )

        Ok...

        Guys,

Only problem is they need a VIC RWC a NSW won't do... so, the dealer can't do nuthin.

I went to VOLKSPOWER at lunch today - the bloke said $50 bucks considering it's new and he won't need to check much!!

Either way....money i would rather not have spent!

Did you save any money by purchasing from NSW dealer?

Well how 'bout this: I DID buy my GT brand spanking new in Vic, drove it back to SA and was told that it needed a full vehicle inspection before I could register it. Even though I had all the relevant paperwork, they still did a full rundown of all its numbers. Apparently SA & NSW are similar in this regard. Thay say it's to stop people rebirthing cars by pretending that they are brand new. Hard to believe, eh?

You would have thought that the check would be nothing more than a cursory glance at the numbers to make sure they are what they should be... Especially with a new car.

Sort of NSW Pink slip material which is $25. Even a NSW Blueslip is only $35ish.

Whats the inspection normally worth in other states?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
