  • 08 mk5 R32 wheels

Hey guys, just a heads up if your ordering an 08 R32 about the wheels. I went in to parra today to have a look and more serious think bout me gettin an r32 and noticed one sitting there with i think 8 spoke rims same size as the current ones but IMO they look plain as bat poop. Also the only other change in the 08 model is that the cd player plays mp3's.

    Cheers
    Alex

Yeah there not the best looking wheel. Glad i got one of the last 07's. I think the rims you can get on the Jetta or Passat in the satin finish would look heaps better. lol ask them to swap.

R32 is here and sounds awesome, loving the throttle blips on the down changes.

i just found a photo on the 'net... What a f*** is that? Those are really crappy wheels!!! They look like they are supposed to be on an entry level car, not top of the range!!!!
someone probably had too many beers when they were designing them

Yeah, definately.... the '07 Spec R32 had MUCH better looking rims.... these new ones are nice... but just lack the 'wow' factor the old ones had.

I guess it's personal taste at the end of the day....

I have an MK4 R32 and they are hard to clean. I don't see it as a reson to have wheels that don't look as good. The car looks like a normal done up golf. Those wheels were something like trademark. Every time you see a MK5 you tell the difference between a GTi and R32 by the wheels. Usually there is no time to look at the details

Here are some pics for comparison:
The old 'Zolder' vs. new 'Omanyt'

The above is the 18" Zolder found on '07 spec R32s

                What a backward step.
                Zolders are a nice wheel.
                Omanyt is just boring.

Has there been a change to the 08 GTI wheels as well?

By the looks of the website and the document on the Media Lounge for '08 changes.... no.

The GTI rims we've become accustomed to stays in the '08 Spec range.

i think both the old ones and the new ones are ordinary. The original ones are just wayyyy too busy.

I reckon the R deserves some nice chunky rims. So make it a bit more aggressive looking

I don't think that I'll send my 08 back (once it shows up) because of a change to the wheels. And I thought the originals were pretty fussy anyway.

I plan to deal with it, once my '08 R32 arrives.
