Sounds like you guys have gotten some pretty good deals! Very impressed.

Unfortunately in Adelaide there is only one stealership, and if you don't like their price they're happy to let you walk away. Trust me, I tried and was told 'if you don't want to pay that much then you're looking at the wrong car'. Nice, huh?

If I ever get another VW I will definitely look interstate.

Airfares are cheap! Good excuse for a mini-holiday too. Just don't rush back cos you're running it in (unless you buy a demo).

With phone / fax / email these days you should be able to get your message through across the borders & timezones.

Local servicing might be an issue, perhaps.

Servicing would be ok, there are independant mechanics here who are certified VW repairers.

As you said, great excuse for a mini-holiday too

The only issue would be warranty repairs. The (one) stealership here is the only place you can have repairs done under warranty, but I'm not sure if they'd do it for a car bought interstate. Definitely something I'd need to look into - but I'm a long way off buying another VW so it can wait!

          Hmm

Well I bought my FSI 2.0 Pacific + metallic paint brand new for 32000 dollars, including rego, stamp duty etc.

This was 2 weeks before the Pacific was to be released. My dad did the haggling, I suppose he's much more experienced than I am with these things.

I think his basics are, don't buy from the first dealer you look at (a bit difficult in your case), go in the afternoon, when their day is dwindling down, and they are a bit more desperate to get that last sale in. Don't know the success rate of this but it worked ok for me I think!

Edit: Sorry it is a manual car!
